Etsy Fee & Profit Calculator (US)
Estimate the charges on one completed Etsy Payments order and what remains after your included costs.
How the fee bases work
Seller revenue is the discounted item subtotal, including personalization, plus buyer-paid shipping and gift wrap. Enter buyer sales tax separately: it is not seller revenue.
| Component | Estimate |
|---|---|
| Allocated listing fees | $0.20 × allocated listing charges |
| Transaction | 6.5% × seller revenue; excludes buyer tax |
| Etsy Payments | 3% × (seller revenue + buyer tax) + $0.25 |
| Offsite Ads | None, or 15% / 12% × seller revenue; capped at $100.00 per attributed order |
Proceeds = seller revenue − modeled fees. Contribution profit = proceeds − product, postage and other entered costs. Contribution margin = that profit ÷ seller revenue × 100.
Worked example
An illustrative $50 item with $5 buyer-paid shipping, no tax, gift wrap or Offsite fee, and one allocated listing charge produces $5.68 in modeled fees. After $20 product cost, $4 postage and $1 other cost, estimated contribution profit is $24.32.
For the tax, postage and ad-tier differences, read Etsy US fees: from order total to contribution profit.
Choose allocation and ad status carefully
Listing fees are charged on publication or renewal, rather than automatically becoming a new checkout fee. Allocate the charges you want this order to cover; use zero when none apply. Offsite Ads should be selected only for an attributed order, using your actual account's tier. Shop qualification can persist after sales fall below the threshold.
Rounding, losses and exclusions
Percentage fees are estimated separately to the nearest cent, with half cents rounded up. Etsy's exact rounding may differ. Low-price orders or high costs can produce a loss; negative results are shown.
This tool does not automatically include setup/subscription charges, Etsy Ads, fee taxes, credits, Share & Save, refunds, conversion or overhead. Include known allocated costs in “Other order costs” without counting a fee twice. It does not compute buyer tax, predict deposit timing or describe your business's net income. Non-US or non-USD orders need a different model.
For a general revenue/cost comparison, use the Profit Margin Calculator. Its cost scope is entered manually; it does not add Etsy fees.
